Avanti II

II

The Avanti II, produced intermittently from 1965 onwards, represents a continuation of the legacy of the original Studebaker Avanti. Unlike its predecessor, the Avanti II was not produced by Studebaker itself, but by various companies acquiring the rights to the name and design. Known for its distinctive fiberglass body, characterized by its sleek, aerodynamic lines and a futuristic design even by today's standards, the Avanti II’s production was marked by periods of active manufacturing followed by prolonged hiatuses. Various engines, typically sourced from other manufacturers, powered the Avanti II throughout its production history, resulting in a range of performance capabilities. While not always a commercially successful venture, the Avanti II holds a significant place in automotive history as a testament to the enduring appeal of a bold and innovative design, continuously adapted and resurrected over the decades. Its distinct aesthetic, along with its ongoing, albeit sporadic, production, firmly establishes its status as a unique automotive icon.
