DC Design is a pioneering Indian automotive design firm founded and originally led by Dilip Chhabria, a celebrated designer with a background in transportation design from Pasadena and experience at General Motors. Starting in the early 1990s, DC Design initially focused on custom body kits and automotive accessories, gaining recognition through projects like remodeling the Maruti Gypsy and collaborating with Mahindra on models such as the Scorpio. The brand gained international acclaim in 2003 when it built the Aston Martin V8 Vantage show car, showcased at the Detroit Auto Show, marking DC Design as a global player in automotive design. Known for its innovative and bespoke vehicle designs, the company has worked on diverse projects including concept cars, vanity vans for celebrities, and special editions for Indian automakers. Its flagship product, the DC Avanti, launched in 2012, is India's first sports coupe featuring a turbocharged 2.0-litre engine and advanced design elements, symbolizing DC Design's evolution from customizers to car manufacturers.
