Kia Concord
- Year: 1997 – 2014
- Also Called:
- Kia Capital
The Kia Concord, marketed as the Capital in some markets, was a mid-size sedan produced from 1986 to 1992. This model showcased Kia's ambition to move beyond budget-friendly compacts. Sharing some design cues with the Brisa, the Concord/Capital nonetheless presented a more spacious and refined interior. While still relying on Mazda-derived technology, Kia made efforts to incorporate its own styling and engineering enhancements. The car offered a choice of four-cylinder engines, focusing on fuel efficiency and practicality rather than high performance. Though lacking the advanced features found in contemporary competitors, the Concord/Capital offered a relatively spacious cabin and a competitive price point, solidifying Kia’s position as a provider of affordable family sedans in a growing market. Its success contributed to Kia's growing brand recognition and expanding market share.
